In Learning from Legends

It’s the first of the month, so you know what that means: it’s time to announce the new Legends Book Club book selection!

If you’re new here, let me explain. The Legends Book Club is a virtual book club designed to explore the lives of “legends” (from athletes and artists, to businesspeople, politicians, scientists and more). Our goal is to understand how these extraordinary people reached their dreams – and overcame the challenges, fears and roadblocks they faced along the way – in hopes of learning from their experiences as we follow our own dreams.

In June we read The One-Week Job Project by legend-in-the-making, Sean Aiken. This month I’m excited to tell you that we’ll be reading about someone who’s staying power has lasted over half a century and who just recently announced his retirement. July’s selection is…

My Remarkable Journey by Larry King

Target reading pace: 10 pages/day

Synopsis
(from bn.com)

For a half-century the world’s most influential figures have been telling their stories to incomparable TV-host Larry King. Now the man in suspenders shares his riveting and inspiring storyfrom his humble roots in Depression-era Brooklyn to the heights of celebrity as host of CNN’s Larry King Live.

Haven’t participated in our book club before? Here’s how it works: At the beginning of each month I announce the book we’ll be reading and the target pace. You can read along with me or simply tune in for the discussions. Throughout the month, I’ll be posting questions and topics for everyone to discuss. You can join in the conversation by posting your remarks in the comments section.

Happy reading!
