This post was meant for last Sunday, but one thing led to another…and here we are. 🙂
Just last week I finally figured out what NaNoWriMo stands for, after seeing it for months and months and MONTHS on Twitter. National Novel Writing Month…duh!
If you live under a rock, like me, NaNoWriMo takes place every year from Nov. 1st – Nov. 30th. It’s a month full of writing with a goal of cranking out a 50,000-word novel. Not only is it a great exercise for people who have always wanted to try their hand at writing a novel, it’s also a great way to meet other writers and raise funds for writing-related causes. Last year, over 119,000 people participated! (By the way, people who participate in this madness are dubbed “Wrimos”).
Unfortunately, I’m not a Wrimo, in the official sense, this year. I guess I’m sort of an unofficial Wrimo though, since I’m approaching the 30,000-word mark on my new manuscript AND taking a fiction writing class. Instead of formally signing up for NaNoWriMo, I’ve made it my personal goal to surpass the 50k mark by the end of the month. So I’ll be with y’all in spirit. And I’ll be sure to report back on Dec. 1 to let you know how I make out!
Tell me, are you an official (or unofficial) Wrimo this year?

[…] yesterday marked the end of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) and as you may recall from my Nov. 6th post, I wrote alongside the official ‘wrimos’ with my own goal of clearing the 50,000-word […]
Erika, found (and bookmarked) your blog from John Zimmer’s LinkedIn update. Love what you’ve done here and share a kindred spirit – from Pennsylvania, also a writer, blogger (5 daily), and a HUGE Dream chaser.
Perhaps there is some synergy in the future. Either way though, wishing you the best of everything. Carpe diem, jeff 🙂
