It’s the first of the month, so you know what that means: it’s time to announce the new Legends Book Club book selection!
If you’re new here, let me explain. The Legends Book Club is a virtual book club designed to explore the lives of “legends” (from athletes and artists, to businesspeople, politicians, scientists and more). Our goal is to understand how these extraordinary people reached their dreams – and overcame the challenges, fears and roadblocks they faced along the way – in hopes of learning from their experiences as we follow our own dreams.
In July we read My Remarkable Journey by Larry King. This month, we’re going to switch things up a bit and read about three legends in the making. August’s selection is…
The Lost Girls by Jennifer Baggett, Holly C. Corbett & Amanda Pressner
Target reading pace: 18 pages/day
Synopsis
(from bn.com)
Jen, Holly, and Amanda are at a crossroads. They’re feeling the pressure to hit certain milestones—scoring a big promotion, finding a soul mate, having 2.2 kids—before they reach their early thirties. When personal challenges force them to reevaluate their lives, they decide it’s now or never to do something daring. Unable to gain perspective in fast-paced Manhattan, the three twentysomethings quit their coveted media jobs and leave behind their friends, boyfriends, and everything familiar to travel the globe. Dubbing themselves the Lost Girls, they embark on an epic yearlong search for inspiration and direction.
Haven’t participated in our book club before? Here’s how it works: At the beginning of each month I’ll announce the book we’ll be reading and the target pace. You can read along with me or simply tune in for the discussions. Throughout the month, I’ll be posting questions and topics for everyone to discuss. You can join in the conversation by posting your remarks in the comments section.
Happy reading!
